SOLOMON STRATEGIES GROUP (SSG) prides itself on many years of
delivering high quality outcomes for our clients. SSG has established a
lasting legacy of providing cost-effective added value to our clients,
helping them deliver a positive impact for our State, its communities
and its citizens.
SSG starts with our Founder and President Jim Erickson's 53-year
career as a Registered Lobbyist at the Minnesota State Capitol, and
representing clients at all levels of government and regulatory agencies,
including; the State Legislature, the Governor’s Office, and the U.S.
Congress.
Some of his seminal achievements over the years include:
* Serving as lead legislative counsel overseeing State government funding
and entitlements of the Mall of America, which has become a globally recognized retail success.
* Securing over $200 Million of State Capital Investment in projects
throughout the State of Minnesota during his still-active career.
SSG now offers our clients over 100 years of experience and
commitment to the making of great public policy in its Principals Jim
Erickson, Tom Streitz and former state Senator Carrie Ruud.
During the 2025 Regular and Special Session, SSG successfully
represented over 20 for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations,
primarily in the areas of real estate development, affordable housing,
long-term care facilities and social service organizations. A few of our
achievements during the session include:
● Representing a coalition of five Residential Environmental
Learning Centers and securing an inaugural $848,000 grant for the
Outdoor Schools for All (OSFA) program. The award was one of
the very few new programs funded in the 2026-2027 biennial
state budget.
● The National Loon Center secured a vital legislative extension of
a $4.0 million grant from the LCCMR (Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources).
● Residents of an SSG Assisted Living facility client will benefit
greatly from the extension of the Disproportionate Share
program. SSG represents Paruan, an owner and manager of Assisted Living facilities.
Looking forward to the 2026 Legislative Session, SSG will continue
building on our important successes in the areas of affordable
housing development, environmental education and the state Capital
Investment bill. Some of our development clients include PAK
Properties, the LaSalle Group/Tapestry Companies and MetroPlains. All of these clients are addressing the challenges and opportunities in the market-rate, affordable and work force housing sectors at both the state and local levels. St. Paul Urban Tennis (SPUT) will be back for additional bonding funding for its East Side tennis and youth educational facility.
A big welcome to some of our newest clients, including Helping Paws,
Cookie Cart and the Faribault Community Land Trust.
